Date night at home can be some of the most romantic dates. You can make a meal together, don’t forget to throw in some aphrodisiacs with a nice bottle of wine. And to end the night, get nice and cozy on the couch to watch a movie together. It can be hard to decide on a film that both of you will enjoy. So, we’ve made a list of best date night movies that all types of people generally enjoy. Not too girly and nothing too gory. Don’t forget the popcorn!
1. Jurassic Park (1993)
Have you ever met anyone who doesn’t like Jurassic Park? No, us either… and you probably shouldn’t trust anyone who doesn’t. This movie’s full of just the right amount of suspense to give you an excuse to scoot on over and take cover.
2. 50 First Dates (2004)
This romantic comedy is a must see for date night. Love makes you do crazy things and Adam Sandler shows this time and time again to Drew Barrymore as she loses her short-term memory every morning when she wakes up. It will make you laugh, cry and inspire you at the same time.
3. Up in the Air (2009)
George Clooney never fails us. If you’re looking for something a little less romantic and a little more serious, this comedy-drama is perfect for date night. Based on the 2001 novel by Walter Kirn, two people who travel often for work meet in hotels all over the United States to hookup. But is it possible to leave it at that without following in love? Find out on your next date night with this movie!
4. Hitch (2005)
Will Smith (whom we all love) stars in this romcom as a ‘date doctor’ helping worthless men find love. Despite is success in helping them out, his own love life is a disaster. The irony adds the perfect twist to the movie that you’ll laugh your way through for sure.
5. Ferris Bueller’s Day off (1986)
An American classic that will take you back to your foolish high school days. With all its typical 80s comedy stunts, you be sure to laugh and have a good time with this easy-going film.
6. Serendipity (2001)
Some may consider the plot a little too romantic, but not us. You’ll get drawn into this movie right from the beginning wanting to know if they will have their serendipity moment!
7. Couples Retreat (2009)
Vince Vaugh does it again in another great romantic comedy, more on the comedy side. Three couples head off to a retreat where they though they were going to be able to kick back and relax. To their surprise the have to participate in therapy sessions and activities.
8. Love Actually (2003)
If it’s anywhere close to Christmas, and we mean October close, you should choose Love Actually. The romantic comedy follows the lives of 8 very different London couples. It’s an all-round loved film that won’t do you wrong… even if you’ve already seen it!
9. Breakfast at Tiffany’s (1961)
There’s nothing like old romance in New York City. As Audrey Hepburn’s most iconic role, the romcom will have you hooked from the beginning. Despite a complicated past, Hepburn’s socialite character becomes interested in the newest tenant in her same apartment building. What needs to happen for the two of them to work things out? Will the fate of love be enough?
10. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004)
An amazing movie fit for all types of audiences. The pure optimism and power of fresh starts to make something great that already had a sad ending in the past.
11. How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days (2003)
Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey will have you laughing throughout this entire romantic-comedy. Hudson, a journalist, wants to write a column based on all the ways women go wrong in relationships… using her real-life experience with a new guy. She quickly reels McConaughey in and once he thinks she’s the perfect girl her plan to is push him away by doing all the most annoying things. But will her plan backfire on her?
12. The Holiday (2006)
Love shows up when you least expect it to. And in The Holiday it has a funny way of bringing people together. This film will create conversation about the past and the present that is bound to come up anyways.
13. Sleepless in Seattle (1993)
This movie has got it all: romance, comedy and drama! After Tom Hanks wife passes away, his son calls into a radio show to try to find his dad a new wife. Engaged Meg Ryan immediately falls for him after hearing his son on the radio and writes them in hopes of being able to meet up. Will Ryan give up everything she already has to take the risk on Hanks?
14. The Big Lebowski (1998)
“The Dude” Lebowski gets mixed up in a millionaire’s affairs because the share the same name in this crime comedy. “The Dude” has pretty much been a lowlife until now. Him and his bowling buddies enter into the dark side of LA, none of them really knowing what they’re getting themselves into.
15. Beauty and the Beast (2017)
Relive your childhood with this brilliantly remade Disney classic. It’s not just in the fairytales that ugly princes fall in love with the most beautiful girls.
