what-to-wear

First dates are nerve-wracking. You want to look your best and show your finest you, but at the same time you don’t want to be underdressed or OTT. Follow these pieces of advice on what to wear on the first date and we’re sure you’ll look great!

1. Make sure you’re comfortable.
If you’re uncomfortable, it’ll show. Whether it be something that’s just a little too tight or a pair of shoes that don’t fit quite right. If you can’t breathe, eat or walk with it on, save it for another occasion. On your first date you want to dress for the occasion, without having to think about a wardrobe malfunction. If your comfy, you’ll be more relaxed without a doubt.

2. Stick with your colors.
If you don’t usually wear plaid, don’t start on the first date. Wear a color or pattern that you know looks good on you. Feel confident in it and rock it.

3. Consider an outfit that you get complimented on.
Maybe it’s not your favorite outfit, but every time you go out in it, you get compliments. Sometimes we don’t see what others do. So keep the publics opinion in mind when deciding what to wear on the first date.

4. Don’t go overboard on the sex appeal.
This one especially goes for the ladies, don’t show too much skin. Leave a little to be discovered further down the road. There is a big difference between sexy and slutty.

5. Don’t forget the top layer.
Wear a nice jacket or coat that goes with the look. Don’t just put on only old coat. Keep in mind your date will probably first see you with the top layer on. And at the end of the night, too. Leave a good first and last impression.

6. Shoes.
Shoes are a great way to make a statement about yourself, but make sure they match the outfit. And don’t forget to think comfort!

7. Style match the occasion.
If you’re going for a mid-morning coffee, consider a more casual look rather than getting all glammed up. Keep in mind the formality of the date before you choose the perfect outfit.

8. Turn the pre-date grooming down a notch.
Of course it’s important to smell clean, but don’t put on too much cologne or perfume. It may be your favorite, but it could also give your date a headache. You never know. Also, go easy of the face moisturizers. With the stress of the first date, you don’t want your face to look greasy by the end of the night. And ladies, don’t wear too much makeup.
